Our five-day OC Intensive Holiday Course is designed for students entering Year 4 in 2027 who want to strengthen their Reading, Mathematical Reasoning and Thinking Skills before the new school year begins.

 

Led by Mr Paul Kim, an experienced OC and Selective School preparation teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience, the course combines realistic exam practice with comprehensive question reviews and effective problem-solving strategies.

Rather than simply completing practice papers, students learn how to approach challenging questions, understand their mistakes and develop the confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems.

What Does the Course Include?

Over five intensive days, students will receive:

​

• 15 Computerised Practice Tests: Five complete sets of Reading, Mathematical Reasoning and Thinking Skills tests under timed conditions.

• Comprehensive Question Reviews: Detailed explanations of correct answers, common mistakes and efficient problem-solving methods.

• Immediate Test Results: Identify strengths and areas requiring further improvement.

• Exam Techniques and Strategies: Learn how to approach difficult questions, eliminate incorrect options and manage time effectively.

• Recorded Lessons: Revisit explanations and challenging questions after class to reinforce learning.

• Expert Instruction: Learn directly from Mr Paul, drawing on more than 20 years of experience preparing students for OC and Selective School examinations.

 

More Than Just Practice Tests

Completing practice tests is only part of effective OC preparation. Understanding why an answer is correct is just as important as getting it right.

​

Our teaching approach focuses on developing students' reasoning abilities and helping them become more independent, strategic problem-solvers.

Through guided reviews and step-by-step explanations, students learn to:

• Recognise different question types and select appropriate strategies.

• Analyse challenging questions logically and systematically.

• Avoid common traps and careless errors.

• Improve accuracy and time management under exam conditions.

• Identify weaknesses early and focus on areas requiring improvement.

• Develop greater confidence when encountering unfamiliar questions.

 

The January course provides an opportunity to establish a strong foundation before students begin their Year 4 OC preparation.

Time: 9:00 am – 2:30 pm daily

11:20 AM - 12:00 PM - REVIEW Reading test (40 mins)

Lunch break 1 hour

1:00 PM - 1:30 PM - Thinking Skills test (30 mins)

1:30 PM - 2:30 PM - REVIEW Thinking Skills test (1 hour)

To ensure a productive learning environment, face-to-face places at our Liverpool centre are limited. Once in-person places are filled, students may enrol in our live online Zoom course, subject to availability.
